Report maps state of cancer care in nine countries in the Middle East and Africa (MEA)

The Swedish Institute of Health Economics (IHE), as an international research organization, has just published, on the occasion of World Cancer Day, a report on cancer care cancer in nine countries in the Middle East and Africa (MEA). Produced in partnership with PhRMA, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, this IHE report is based on a comparative analysis of the cancer care landscape in the following MEA countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait , Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and United Arab Emirates. It aims to underline the importance of tackling this scourge urgently.

Released on the occasion of World Cancer Day, which takes place on February 4 each year, the report will be the subject of a preliminary webinar to be held on February 1 and which will bring together a panel of well-known personalities in the field. of the fight against cancer. Among the most eminent panelists will be HRH Princess Dina Mired of Jordan, outgoing President of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and the first Arab Muslim woman to hold this prestigious position.

Also participating in this forum will be Her Royal Highness Fadia Saadah, Director of Human Development for the Europe and Central Asia region for the World Bank; but also Thomas Hofmarcher, health economist at the IHE; Samir Khalil, Executive Director of PhRMA Middle East and Africa and Ahmed Hassan Abdelaziz, Associate Professor of Clinical Oncology at Ain Shams University in Cairo.
