This week, Madmoizelle is sifting through all the major beauty trends for fall-winter 2021. Today: the advent of the so-called “precious” gaze! Emerald green, ruby red, amber brown… the nuances of the stones invite themselves to our eyes.
For several years now, the beauty industry has been fascinated by precious or semi-precious stones. When some brands infuse crystals such as quartz, jade or lapis lazuli in skin care products to boost – or claim to boost – their effects (this is particularly the case with Herbivore Botanicals), others are inspired by the colors of these to make makeup with precious and aesthetic shades.
Green, yellow, red, blue, pink or purple reflections… Matte or slightly iridescent makeup would become almost obsolete in the face of these newcomers with generously worked reflections.
If these products are so popular, it is also because the health crisis has made us completely rethink our makeup routine from A to Z!
For almost two years now, the mask has camouflaged three quarters of the face in closed public places. The gaze has thus become the mirror of emotions. It is now by him that we smile and even sometimes that we seduce. So inevitably, when many human relationships are made in this way, we might as well show off all our cards...
And the punchiest way beauty experts have come up with is through eyeshadows (in powder or cream form) in rich, deep shades. Emerald, sapphire, amethyst, ruby and the others go well with a nude, glowy complexion, without too much fuss.
A technique that makeup artist Tobi Henney, interviewed by Vogue, explains very simply:
To obtain luminous and optimal results, it is important to use a combination of different eyeshadow textures. Nothing too heavy, just enough to get that slightly glossed effect that makes this trend so unique!

To do this, you can apply a shadow of the color you want all over your eyelid just after using a primer. Once the shadow is correctly applied, place a more oily texture which can bring you a 3D result. This tool can take the form of an eye shadow pencil or even a creamy shadow to be applied with a brush or finger.
In any case, do not forget to polish with a cotton swab for the ultimate finish.
