Hydrate the skin: Hydration is the key to preserving the youthfulness of the skin. Use a mild cleanser: Choose a mild cleanser with a low pH to avoid attacking the skin, preserve your skin barrier, and maintain your skin's balance. A high pH cleanser such as soaps promotes dehydration of the skin and exposes it to irritation.
Exfoliate the skin: With age, cell regeneration slows down. Dead skin cells are not replaced by new ones and this is what gives a dull complexion and promotes the appearance of small furrows. Performing gentle scrubs would therefore remove dead cells to regain a fresh look and preserve the youth of the skin. To exfoliate the skin on your face, you can mix a tablespoon of fine sugar with a tablespoon of a vegetable oil of your choice. Apply this scrub to your face, gently exfoliate and then rinse with lukewarm water.
Apply sunscreen: This step is essential to keep your skin healthy. The sunscreen will protect your skin from ultraviolet rays which attack your epidermis and reduce collagen, thus impacting the elasticity of the skin. Apply a sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 index daily. This will protect your skin from premature skin aging, but also from pigment spots caused by the sun's rays.
