No need to palm-read lifelines to assess life expectancy. The least wrinkled women have less risk of being affected by cardiovascular diseases, and therefore have a longer life expectancy. The same cannot be said of men.

Women who don't look their age have a lower risk of heart disease and stroke and are more likely to survive than those born in the same year but with more wrinkles, a recent study shows. in the Nederlands. Researchers from Leiden University Medical Center, together with industrial scientists from Unilever, investigated the cases of 260 women. The latter were divided into two groups according to their risk of heart disease, high or low.

Scientists assessed the women's signs of aging by analyzing their face and wrinkles on the inside of the arm, a part of the body less likely to show signs of premature aging compared to the face. The results of this study, published in the journal Journals of Gerontology, show that women with less wrinkles and more youthful appearance have lower blood pressure and a lower heart risk.

In a previous study, this time conducted on men, scientists had not noted a visible association between the appearance of wrinkles and their tension, but they had found that men from families where the expectation of life was high tended to look younger than men in the control group of the same age.
