The Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc recently celebrated its 150th anniversary. To celebrate the anniversary of this mythical palace on the French Riviera, François Demachy, perfumer for the house of Christian Dior, has imagined a summer fragrance that takes us on vacation in a little corner of paradise.
And yet, to this day, there is no trace of the couturier's passing from Avenue Montaigne to Eden-Roc... Neither to taste the sweetness of life in this five-star hotel nor to at the time of the Cannes Film Festival where, however, he dressed many stars who stayed there. So how could he, the lover of the Riviera, the hedonist who traveled the roads of Lavandou via Saint-Tropez, have missed this emblematic place of the region? After all, the Château de la Colle Noire, which was his last home, was only a stone's throw from Cap d'Antibes. But no, nothing, no sepia photo of him on the terrace has been found, no more than a signature recorded in the guestbook which nevertheless contains those of dear friends like Marc Chagall, of stars faithful to his genius like Marlène Dietrich or Rita Hayworth.
A steep cape flooded with sunlight bordered by high white rocks that plunge steeply into the waters of the Mediterranean, an area nestled in a nest of greenery and shaded by immense and fragrant umbrella pines, a swimming pool which seems to throw itself into the sea and at the edge of which languid stars sunbathe. As we know, celebrities and members of royal families from all over the world have always jostled to be able to obtain the most beautiful suites, laze by the pool dug into the rock or hide at siesta time in one of the famous little "huts" hidden in the pine forest. A starry galaxy that loved Eden-Roc just as much as Christian Dior's New Look.
Eden-Roc is a salty and woody fragrance that evokes the sweetness of life that reigns in this very unique place. An intensely solar wake, imbued with the breath of the Mediterranean and which transmits a strong emotion. Its pungent accords like salt, lively like the wind, warm like the sun are balanced by a sweet smell of idleness guided by aromas of solar oil, skin heated in the sun thanks to a note of jasmine and pricked with a hint of of coconut. Instantly, sensual images of tanned and languid bodies on which remain some traces of salt appear. A reminiscence of happiness in short.
