December is often a busy month, but also a good time to take care of ourselves and enjoy a well-deserved well-being break. However, our budget does not always match our ambitions. This year, Lepetitjournal.com has therefore set out to discover neighborhoods offering reasonably priced options, and has unearthed trusted local shops and salons for you.
Face, body and hair treatments, but also massages, manicures and eyelash extensions, the Lepetitjournal.com team shares its tips with you.
The recommendations cited below do not in any way constitute an exhaustive list or imply any affiliation. Do not hesitate to write to us to share yours!
Winter in Hong Kong sometimes means dry skin and pollution. To remedy this, and because we deserve a moment of relaxation, a massage facial treatment at home or in an institute will make all the difference and will give you a nice well-being break. Against the backdrop of soft music in the ear, online sophrology or a soothing story, let yourself be overwhelmed by serenity and forget about anything.
For discount parapharmacy products, we recommend that you look at the Causeway Bay boutiques in the Beverly center and in the LaForet mall. The usual stores are also full of beauty masks of all kinds, cute sins of Hong Kong women. As for facial massages to do yourself, the internet is full of online tutorials.
For facial treatments including successively a deep cleansing, massage treatments, a mask, an eye contour, as well as a very pleasant massage of the shoulders and back, we particularly recommend the beauty institutes of Causeway Bay.
The editor's favourite: Bérangère particularly appreciates Elishama, a local beauty salon a stone's throw from the Tin Hau metro station, well run, with a friendly welcome with good basics in English, nimble fingers, as well as a very reasonable price for a 1h30 facial session. In addition to the beauty treatments, we like their relaxing massages which untie the knots, or the lymphatic massages improving blood circulation, including in the chest or buttocks to those who want it. You can also ask for a heated massage table during your massage… or simply benefit from the benefits of the heated blanket to relieve you of all your toxins like in a sauna.
As the end-of-year celebrations approach and for the pleasure of taking a feminine break, take advantage of the many salons offering a variety of styles and colors. Some will prefer fantasy with the color Christmas red embellished with glitter and white Christmas patterns. Others will appreciate a neat manicure or a French, or the application of an ephemeral varnish. Don't forget to put some hand cream in your bag or on your bedside table.

For a very local, low-cost salon frequented by expats, women and men alike, head to Nail 88, an entire building full of local nail stalls. A very large choice of shades, gel-based or not, for pedicures and manicures. Nothing very cozy, but efficient service, and you can always take this privileged moment to browse beautiful Christmas videos and unwind.
Editor's picks: Our favorite is Pikapika Nail, a charming, neat, and comfortable local salon, where you'll be greeted by a bunch of fluffy, playful cats that roam freely. The founder creates her many gel polish colors herself, including on demand. Trust them with your hands or feet while watching enticing local shows on their big screen.
Synonymous with relaxation par excellence, massage in Hong Kong can take many forms. Chinese, Thai, Swedish, sports, lymphatic, hot stone massage…
Nothing better to remove tension and all kinds of muscle pain to be in shape before, during and after the holidays! Locate your local massage parlors and test them out by making an appointment a few hours before or at the last minute. If not, join the beauty salons who will know how to adapt their gestures to your request and also offer attractively priced packages. Without forgetting the comfortable massages at home.
Editor's picks: For a vigorous and regenerating foot massage, Karine recommends Foot station in Wan Chai. Marsha, for her part, strongly recommends Jessica Beauty, who offers her massages and other services directly at home and uses organic and aromatic oils.
A beauty appointment par excellence, the hairdressing moment in the salon or at home is often synonymous with relaxation and satisfaction; at least when the information has passed between the hairdresser and his client. But in Hong Kong, where many hairdressers are real artists, it is not necessarily easy to find the salon that suits all budgets.
And yet, some of us have found our footing with local salons. For example, Lydia Salon in Wan Chai, which members of our community recommend to us for beautiful clean cuts or even for a total makeover.
Not to mention those local hairdressers offering a simple relaxing or invigorating and comfortably lying shampoo at unbeatable prices.
Editor's picks: Bérangère warmly recommends Samson at Mina Dev'Will for beautiful blonde locks and for her keratin treatment that makes hair smooth and silky.
Good reasons to try to take a break and recharge the batteries!
