The National Gendarmerie put an end to an attempted clandestine migration of more than 46 people, made up of 14 men, 18 women and 10 children, at the end of the week. They were going to Mayotte when the police arrested them off Ambanja, in the West Bemaneviky sector, on board a boat. Two crew members would also be arrested.
On board the dhow where these individuals were, the police seized 1,080 liters of fuel and three outboard motors as well as a sum of more than 15 million ariary. Concordant sources indicate that the gendarmes also arrested two people who allegedly tried to intervene in this case. Moreover, the referral of the defendants should not be long in coming.
